Sportsboards – the essential tool for sporting coaches of all levels.
Born and bred in Torquay, Victoria – a sport mad hub on the Surf Coast – Sportsboards was developed by founder Terry ‘Stretch’ Jones, a local football legend. Terry’s sporting resume was long: player, coach, Club President at the Torquay Tigers, and Bellarine Football Interleague Director. He was also an avid fan of all things sport, from NRL and netball to soccer, often found on a Sunday watching whatever game was on.
After noticing local leagues striving to lift their on-field performance each year, Terry saw a gap: coaches needed a simple, durable, and portable tool to explain plays, demonstrate moves, and manage team changes. From that need, Sportsboards was born.
Since then, the business has grown from a single AFL board to a range covering most team sports, continually evolving with new products and innovations – all designed to help coaches at every level to achieve success.
After Terry’s tragic passing in 2014, his middle daughter, Sheridan, left her 15-year role as Sports Marketing Manager at Oakley to take the reins. Under her leadership, Sportsboards has expanded into soccer, water polo, basketball, hockey and more, with clubs across Australia and New Zealand seeing the value of quality coaching tools.
Today, with a growing team, a head office and warehouse in Torquay and over 120 stores and distributors, Sportsboards is trusted by everyone from grassroots junior clubs to elite teams including AFL & AFLW clubs – Geelong Cats, Melbourne Demons, and Fremantle Dockers, as well as the Matilda’s – all relying on Sportsboards to deliver on game day!
